Programma
Day 1 – Arrival in Scopello
Individual arrival in Scopello, a charming seaside village built around an ancient 17th-century baglio. Meet the staff for a tour briefing, receive your road book, maps, and all the information needed for your cycling adventure through western Sicily.
Day 2 – Scopello to Buseto Palizzolo
47 km / +860 m
Your first ride takes you to the spectacular Archaeological Park of Segesta, one of Sicily’s most evocative historical treasures. Admire the majestic Doric temple and enjoy panoramic views stretching all the way to the sea. Segesta was founded by the Elymians and later shaped by Greek and Roman civilizations.
Day 3 – Buseto Palizzolo to Trapani
34 km / +460 m
Cycle through the peaceful Sicilian countryside, passing quiet rural landscapes and small farms. This inland route offers a true taste of traditional life in western Sicily before reaching the lively coastal town of Trapani.
Day 4 – Trapani to Marsala
50 km / +460 m
A relaxing coastal stage with unforgettable scenery. Ride along the sea with stunning views of the famous salt pans and windmills. Optional visit to the Phoenician island of Mozia, home to an archaeological site and private museum. Arrive in Marsala, renowned worldwide for its sweet fortified wine — a winery visit is highly recommended.
Day 5 – Marsala to Selinunte
70 km / +600 m
Today’s ride combines vineyards, rolling hills, and ancient history. Leave the flat wine-growing plains behind as you head inland toward the impressive Cave di Cusa, a Greek stone quarry frozen in time. Continue to the vast archaeological area of Selinunte, one of the largest temple complexes in the Mediterranean.
Day 6 – Selinunte to Sambuca di Sicilia
38 km / +600 m
From the coast, pedal into Sicily’s green interior. The route alternates gentle climbs and long descents through forests and cultivated fields, leading to the picturesque hill town of Sambuca di Sicilia, rich in tradition and charm.
Day 7 – Sambuca to Corleone
57 km / +1400 m
A challenging but rewarding inland stage through dramatic scenery. Ride across the Monte Genuardo Nature Reserve and pass through Contessa Entellina. Arrive in Corleone, historically known for its many churches and famously linked to The Godfather legend, though its real heritage goes far deeper.
Day 8 – Corleone to Monreale
58 km / +1450 m
Your final cycling day offers breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable highlights. Follow an old railway path to the archaeological site of Monte Jato and the lake of Piana degli Albanesi. Stop for a delicious Sicilian cannolo in Santa Cristina Gela before reaching Monreale, home to one of the most extraordinary cathedrals in Italy, built by William II in the 12th century.
